Facilities Maintenance Technician

OUC - The Reliable One,  an industry leader and the second largest municipal utility in Florida committed to serving the community and the environment, is presently seeking a Facilities Maintenance Technician to join the Financial & Support Services division.

We are looking for a knowledgeable & self-starter to perform preventative and maintenance repairs for OUC facilities and properties including, but not limited to, painting, drywall and wallpaper repair, door lock systems, plumbing and irrigation repair, minor electrical repairs, knowledge of HVAC systems, alarm systems, elevator operation, and landscaping.

The ideal candidate will have:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of five (5) years of facilities experience or educational equivalent.
• Must have a Florida Class "A" Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Electrical knowledge

Salary Range: $24.96 per hour (Estimated $51,935 annually - will receive a review every 6 months)

Job Purpose:

Perform preventative and maintenance repairs for OUC facilities and properties including, but not limited to, painting, drywall and wallpaper repair, door lock systems, plumbing and irrigation repair, minor electrical repairs, knowledge of HVAC systems, alarm systems, elevator operation, minor carpentry, and landscaping.

Primary Functions:

• Perform general building repairs including:
• electrical
• carpentry
• plumbing
• painting
• caulking
• all types of door repairs (hanging or modifying)
• drywall repair
• wallpaper repair
• furniture moving
• irrigation repairs

Technical Requirements:

• Knowledge of facility maintenance;
• Electrical or skilled carpentry knowledge may be preferred depending on the area of assignment;
• Strong problem-solving, time management, and communication skills;
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Demonstrate ability to interact with customers and co-workers and provide a high level of customer service and satisfaction
• Must have the ability to carry out written and verbal instructions
• Ability to follow safety practices
• Ability to learn buildings’ alarm systems and elevator operation
• Willingness, on short notice, to work extended hours when required including days, weekends, and all holidays, potentially under adverse conditions
• Ability to interact with customers and co-workers effectively

Education/Certification/Years of Experience Requirements:

Working Conditions:

This job requires willingness to work extended hours when required including nights, weekends, and holidays. This job occasionally requires working in confined areas, heights, and/or around excessive noise. This job rarely may be subject to working in extreme weather, and/or around noxious fumes, chemicals, and insects.

Physical Requirements:

This job includes very frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending/stooping, climbing, speaking & hearing (English). This job involves very frequent lifting of 0-20 lbs., frequent lifting of 21-40 lbs., occasional lifting of 50+ lbs. This job involves frequent pushing, pulling, and/or digging, reaching overhead, kneeling/crawling, detailed inspection/reading/editing, and writing. This job requires regular use of company vehicles.
