Job description
Log Master employees restore log homes/cabins and will be required to:
· travel to states between the Rocky's and the Appalachian Mountains for possibly 1 or 2 weeks (4-day weekend after longer trips),
· work in a range of temperatures and weather conditions,
· lift 80 pounds,
· climb and work to heights up to 20 ft. on a ladder and 40 ft. on a scaffold,
· do general math equations,
· attend training classes,
· use chainsaws, pressure washers, caulking guns, & media/sand blasters
· wear respirators, safety glasses and hearing protection as necessary
· possibly use heavy equipment
· know basic carpentry skills,
· be self-motivated and punctual,
· pass a background and drug test, if necessary
· and have good communication skills.
Carpenters and painters may be hired as a Log Master's Apprentice for a probation period until they demonstrate the necessary skill level to be promoted. Moreover, all employees will be expected to train to become a Log Master and be able to take direction from the Log Masters. Starting wages for apprenticeship begin at $18-$20/hr (Pay varies based on location). Skilled carpenters can expect to be paid starting at $20+/hr. (after three months of proven performance can make $20-$25/hr. based on log home knowledge and teamwork). Crew chief pay is negotiable based on performance/experience. Tax free federal $59/day general per diem for meals applies when traveling. Lodging is paid for by the Company.
